Connecting NAR to the World With President’s Liaisons

WorldmapIf you follow NAR Global on social media or receive our emails you may have noticed that we are now accepting applications for next year’s President’s Liaisons. President’s Liaisons play a key role in maintaining NAR’s relationships with other countries by promoting the REALTOR® brand and helping to raise the bar of professionalism for the industry.  Whether you are interested in applying to be a 2018 President’s Liaison or wish to learn more about how President’s Liaisons bridge the connection between U.S. REALTORS® and NAR’s partners abroad…this post is for you! After all, NAR has over 89 partnerships in 68 countries and the best way to leverage these established relationships is to get involved.

President’s Liaisons Defined
President’s Liaisons are U.S.-based REALTORS® who are chosen by the NAR President to manage the relationship between the U.S. and a particular country. The objectives of the President’s Liaison program are:

  • to promote the REALTOR® brand through International REALTOR® membership, education, products and services;
  • to drive business to NAR and networking among members by encouraging Cooperating Associations to promote NAR’s products and services to their members.

The term of the President’s Liaison runs for 1 year, alongside the President. President’s Liaisons may be re-elected. President’s Liaisons work closely with NAR Global staff and also work under one of the five Regional Coordinators, who manage NAR’s five regions across the world.

How can everyday REALTORS® utilize President’s Liaisons?
Since President’s Liaisons are based in the U.S. and serve as NAR’s connection to a particular country, they can be an excellent resource when learning more about the culture and business practices of a country. Planning on traveling to a certain country to learn more? –President’s Liaisons can help point out where to go and possibly make introductions for you within that country. Remember, cross-border connections can also be cultivated locally as well. Get involved with your associations Global Business Council, attend NAR events and meetings, earn your CIPS designation and of course read the Global View Blog for tips! You never know, you might be a President’s Liaison in the making!

How to Apply
If you are already a Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designee and have some knowledge of the country’s culture and language, then we encourage you to apply for the 2018 President’s Liaison appointments. Interested individuals should send their completed  applications to Supap Jitta at by Friday, April 7 at 4:00 p.m. CST. President’s Liaisons have the unique opportunity to act on behalf of NAR abroad while learning more about global real estate. As a President’s Liaison you will not only get more involved with NAR and its objectives abroad, you will grow your connections with real estate professionals beyond the U.S. The position is a volunteer opportunity, and the experience and network you gain as a result of your work is priceless and will carry into your business for years to come.
